We walked in the drizzling rain because we refused to pay $20 for $5 umbrellas and arrived at Barbuto wet and slightly cranky; luckily snagged the last available table which was unluckily a sidewalk table. Ordered Rosé and too much food and noticed that our server looked like Seth McFarlane. While waiting for our meal to arrive, we people-watched a model in a pantsuit romper and stilettos, attempting to maneuver the slippery sidewalk; an older gentleman (or poor soul as we nicknamed him) drenched in shorts and a tshirt, riding a scooter; an Australian Shepherd tripping up the sidewalk causing both he and his human to look at each other in bemusement at how that could have happened; three dudes in sunglasses huddled under one small umbrella; lots of babies and many joggers. Sitting on the edge of a sidewalk, gazing through a steady drizzle and at a gray sky, we shared giggles, one belly laugh, and more Rosé ... best afternoon ever ... and all because we craved this chicken and its salsa verde. Thank you Barbuto NYC.
*... As I writing the above, Kate snickered and said "I have a feeling that you're going to make, 'we sat outside getting rained on sideways', sound much sexier." ... I tried Kate! :)
