All avocados are picked by hand. Avocado trees are high, so a 16-foot pole with a pouch and clipper at one end is used to pick the out-of-reach fruit. Holding the pole, the avocado is cradled in the pouch, then a string on the pole is pulled to clip off the stem near the top of the fruit. It takes a special individual to harvest this fruit ... for us. Imagine doing that all day. Another reason to be thankful for our farmers.
